Image Processing and Retouching

Are you a busy architecture and interiors photographer, who has got to the point where your image processing and retouching back log is:

                • beginning to hold you back from undertaking more work?
                • getting in the way of undertaking essential marketing tasks and go-sees?
                • may be causing your clients to grumble at your quoted turnaround times in the busy season?
Or may be you just need some good old-fashioned time off!

I think I can help!
I assist photographers like yourself to make the jump into outsourcing their image processing: and I know how scary that may sound, divesting control of a creatively essential aspect of your practice! But many photographers are discovering that by not outsourcing their post production, their businesses are failing to really grow, and their core creative skill, image capture, is starting to seriously suffer.
Consider that in the not so faraway past, commercial photographers would shoot, and printers would print; it was perfectly acceptable for a photographer to generate the best image possible at time of shooting and then have a hand printed image created by a dedicated darkroom worker. There were lab workers in the days of film who were highly sought after. I aim to provide that same highly tailored service for today's digital photographers, one which enables them to develop the capture side of their business, secure in the knowledge that all imagery leaving their studio is processed to the highest standards possible and is, importantly, fully reflective of their personal style and photographic vision.
If you are happy putting in the hours behind the computer processing your shoots (hours which your client will never get to see or perhaps fully appreciate) then great. I get why you would want to continue to control that aspect of your practice. But if you're not, and are happy to work with an experienced digital worker with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to architectural and interiors image processing.... please read on!
The information below and the links in this section will explain fully how I operate and what I can achieve for businesses like yours. But the best thing is to get in touch so that we can discuss your requirements. I am happy to work on a couple of your own images to show you what is possible, at no fee.

Please take a look at some examples meanwhile in my gallery>>>
Not quite ready to sub-contract your processing? I also offer image retouching, specifically tuned to the issues encountered with location-based architecture and interiors photography, at a very competitive rate:

So why outsource your image processing?

Time is value!

          • What else might you be doing with your time if you could remove about 85-90% of the time you would normally spend processing a shoot? I reckon on spending the same amount of time in post-processing as I do on location: literally an hour for an hour. But there is a difference between a day spent shooting on location where there are no distractions, no calls, no emails and a so-called post-processing day: because that day is spent at home, a day’s shoot processing can actually span two working days by the time all the other tasks, interruptions and commitments of “civilian” life are factored in!

          • What if the great majority of that time was freed up?  What could you do with those additional hours? Sure you could do plenty. But the real question is: could you earn MORE money during that freed up time than you could by processing your images yourself? If the answer is NO then there is no point in hiring me. I am assuming that your rate for a shoot includes some remuneration for your post production time: so you need to subtract my fee from that sum. But if the maths show that you could be better off, then why not take a look at outsourcing?
          • So what else could you be doing with your time? Well you could say yes to another shoot! This of course would be the best of all; hopefully your shoot rate will enable you to earn more money while still factoring in my fee. But what about other tasks ? How about going to see or zooming with a potential client, or updating your Insta feed or networking on Linked In? That freed up time you can choose to spend in so many valuable ways. You could even just treat yourself to an afternoon visiting an art gallery and getting creatively inspired, or why not just go out and have a nice meal? May be your mental health deserves a reward once in a while! How good can these last two things ultimately be for you and your business, even though they are not actually generating revenue?
          • So value is not necessarily about additional money earned (e.g. by being able to attend one more shoot per week). Time is truly precious and there are numerous ways of spending it (note that we choose to use a financial term - “spend”-  to describe the passing of time!) Many of them can bring value to your business, creativity and general wellbeing in different ways. Freed up time can be of huge value if not actually remunerative.
          • But that time isn’t free : you have to invest in it somewhere… and I am suggesting that outsourcing your post-processing is one of the most effective ways of purchasing potentially enriching time which is itself covered  by your own shoot processing fee component.

Leave the feeling behind!
         • Bear in mind that I am emotionally detached from your images: this doesn’t mean I don't care about the results! Far from it! A photographer's reputation and success as a professional are at the forefront of my mind when I process and deliver any image set. But very often when you process your own images it is very hard not to think about perhaps stressful aspects of the shoot, your client’s expectations, your own high demands of yourself etc . All this thought energy detracts from the work in hand; it's not creative.
I think there is a great danger that we photographers tend to think a great deal about what other photographers will think when we are processing our images. This again is not to say that we will tolerate mediocrity! It’s just that an objective third party contractor can process your images with one goal in mind : creating the very best image statement from the set which is reflective of your professional style.
You might wonder : what is the value of having that whole degree of “emotional baggage” removed from your assignment? To which, I would say: give it a try and see how much lighter you feel!
Enough pitch (!) : why not get in touch for a chat about how I can help you to reclaim a healthy work-life balance? I'll be delighted to process a couple of your images at no charge so you can test the water... nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say....
